The 2026 New Year Dialogue Concert, The Meeting of Legalist Philosophy and Law & Economics, was held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
The event concluded successfully with a meaningful dialogue exploring Law & Economics alongside Legalist philosophy. Centered on Western law-and-economics scholarship and the Eastern Legalist tradition, the discussion offered in-depth insights into realistic perspectives on human nature and principles of institutional design. Although these two schools of thought emerged from different intellectual traditions, they engaged in a substantive conversation on themes directly relevant to contemporary institutions and public policy.
The dialogue moved beyond abstract philosophical reflection to address how we should understand human nature, the role of institutions, and the continuing relevance of these traditions today. The exchange of ideas across civilizations provided fresh perspectives on how we view institutions and policy.
We sincerely thank the two speakers and all participants whose presence made this rich and meaningful discussion possible.
