[Emergency Diagnostic Debate] Is the Future Response Fund Appropriate?

The Center for Free Enterprise (CFE), together with member of the National Assembly Sooyoung Park, held an emergency assessment forum titled “Is It Appropriate to Establish a Future Response Fund?” at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 10, in Conference Room No. 10 of the National Assembly Members’ Office Building.

The government is pushing a plan to establish a new “Future Response Fund” worth 162 trillion won starting next year. The plan is to use additional tax revenue and other sources to invest funds in the areas of youth, growth engines, local regions, and educational talent. However, since this would involve creating a new large-scale fund, it requires sufficient review of such issues as the method of financing, the fund’s operating structure, the National Assembly’s fiscal oversight, and fiscal sustainability. In response, the Center for Free Enterprise (CFE), together with the office of Rep. Sooyoung Park, invited relevant experts to conduct an urgent assessment of whether introducing the Future Response Fund is appropriate and to discuss follow-up alternatives.
