This seminar focused on changes in the global competitive landscape surrounding AI data centers and Korea’s response strategy. The presentation emphasized that “AI infrastructure,” which combines power, cooling, location, and geopolitics, has emerged as a new core competitive factor, and that data centers are being transformed from simple facilities into industrial and security assets. In the discussion, participants pointed out that Korea’s ranking as “4th in AI” diverges from its actual computing capacity, raising the need to resolve infrastructure bottlenecks such as power, land, and regulation. The discussion also highlighted the importance of moving beyond the old-style race for quantitative investment toward strategic infrastructure design that integrates energy, location, and the industrial ecosystem.
