On June 24, the Center for Free Enterprise (CFE) held a policy seminar at Pureun Hall titled “Strategy and Direction for National Pension Reform Based on Generational Fairness,” where participants discussed reform tasks for building a sustainable national pension system in an era of low birth rates and super-aging. The seminar reviewed the achievements and limitations of parametric reforms, including adjustments to the contribution rate and income replacement rate, and presented ways to redefine the roles of the National Pension, Basic Pension, retirement pension, and occupational pensions, with a focus on structural reform measures to ease the burden on future generations and enhance intergenerational equity.
Professor Yongha Kim of the Department of IT Financial Management at Soonchunhyang University delivered the presentation, while Dongseok Ok, Chairman of the Open Society Forum, Hyesung Jang, Ph.D. in Public Administration at Korea University, and Professor Dongwook Kang of the Department of Social Welfare at Hankyong National University took part in the discussion, engaging in an in-depth exchange on policy alternatives for balancing the two goals of ensuring the National Pension’s fiscal stability and guaranteeing old-age income security.
Thank you to everyone who attended.
