The United States enjoyed an enormous boom because of Europe’s First World War, but the overinvestment and excess output that resulted from it lost their destination once the war ended.

When war-ravaged European markets could no longer buy those goods, companies collapsed, and the unemployed—left with nothing but worthless shares in failed companies—had to beg for work on the streets. Thus began the Great Depression, which lasted for ten years.

Amid such social turmoil, the Democratic Party came to hold power for 20 years through the New Deal, a planned economic policy of strong government, and aggressively introduced socialist policies such as big government, steep tax hikes, and the expansion of the social security system.

This is a book that explains to conservatives who go along with such trends what true conservative values are.
