South Korea and the United States recently agreed to reduce their reciprocal tariffs from 25% to 15%, and South Korea pledged $350 billion in investment in the United States, $100 billion in LNG and energy purchases, and partial market opening. This agreement is at the stage of a comprehensive working-level agreement, and product-specific tariff rates and market opening conditions have not yet been finalized. At the South Korea-U.S. summit to be held at the White House in late August, key issues such as the scope of opening sensitive industries, including agricultural and livestock products and automobiles, and the criteria for selecting investment projects are expected to be discussed in earnest.

Accordingly, this seminar aims to analyze the significance and the short- and medium-term effects of the upcoming 15% tariff negotiations and negotiations with major countries, and to explore response strategies and areas of cooperation for the Korean economy and businesses through discussions on product-specific tariffs and market opening based on the summit results, as well as industry-specific scenario analysis.
