Liberal democracy is a core value enshrined in our Constitution and a principle of community that all citizens must cultivate together. In particular, in a rapidly changing era, the perspective of the MZ generation is a key to the sustainability and development of liberal democracy. Accordingly, the Center for Free Enterprise (CFE) is holding the “2025 CFE Paper Competition” so that the MZ generation can reflect on the essence and role of liberal democracy and present new perspectives and alternatives. We look forward to your deep insights and creative proposals.
1. Competition Topic
－The value and future of liberal democracy as seen by the MZ generation, and the presentation of rational solutions for the development of liberal democracy
Example 1. A theoretical and practical examination of the value and meaning of liberal democracy under the Constitution
Example 2. The reality and challenges of liberal democracy as experienced by the MZ generation
Example 3. Core values of liberal democracy and contemporary issues, such as freedom of expression, equal rights, the rule of law, philosophy, and society
Example 4. Liberal democracy amid technological change (e.g., AI and freedom of expression, digital censorship, etc.)
Example 5. A humanistic reflection on liberal democracy and an exploration of its meaning as a universal value
2. Eligibility
- Members of the MZ generation (those born since the 1980s), including graduate students, undergraduate students, and office workers

3. Application Schedule
- Submission period: Monday, August 18, 2025 – Friday, October 17, 2025, by 18:00
- Announcement of results: Friday, November 21, 2025, on the organizer’s website and through individual notification
- Awards ceremony: To be announced later
4. Submission Format
- Length: Approximately 20 A4 pages (excluding references)
- Format: PDF file, 11 pt font, recommended line spacing of at least 160%
- Structure: Paper format (must include introduction, main body, and conclusion), with citations and references clearly provided
- Submission method: Google Form

5. Awards
- Grand Prize (1 winner): KRW 3,000,000
- Excellence Award (3 winners): KRW 2,000,000
- Encouragement Award (5 winners): KRW 1,000,000
6. Notes
- User traffic increases significantly starting the day before the deadline. Please register at least one hour before the deadline.
- Submissions must comply with the required format.
- In the case of duplicate submissions, only the most recently submitted paper will be accepted.
- Submitted papers cannot be revised or deleted after registration.
- Copyright to all submitted works belongs to the Center for Free Enterprise (CFE).
- All entries must be original works. If research ethics are violated, including plagiarism, the award will be revoked.
- The personal information of award recipients will be collected and retained for the purpose of the awards process, recognition, and prize delivery.
- Award recipients will be asked to provide personal information (such as resident registration number) for tax reporting, and prize money will be paid after withholding tax.
