“Speaking on Liberalism and the Market Economy in Our Lives”
The Center for Free Enterprise (CFE) is hosting the 1st Market Economy Speech Contest. Share your voice on the themes of liberalism and the market economy, which are woven into every part of our lives!
□ Eligibility: Anyone age 19 or older
□ How to Participate:
1. Online manuscript submission: Friday, December 9, 2022 – Monday, January 9, 2023

- Speech manuscripts should be approximately 1,000 characters in length
2. Preliminary screening: Successful applicants announced on Thursday, January 12, 2023
3. Submit a PPT file for the presentation by preliminary-round qualifiers (free format / presentation time of 3–5 minutes per person)
- Qualifiers will be contacted individually with further instructions
4. Offline final speech contest: Scheduled for Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at 1:30 p.m.

* The speech contest will be filmed on-site on the day of the event and later uploaded to the Center for Free Enterprise (CFE) website and YouTube channel.

2. Why strengthening educational competitiveness is necessary and how to achieve it
3. The side effects of a sharp minimum wage increase on the market and possible solutions
4. The benefits of privatization and how to implement it
5. Why reducing the number of civil servants is necessary and how to achieve it
6. Solutions for enhancing labor market flexibility
7. Why disruptive strikes by labor unions are not justified
8. Measures to ease corporate regulations in order to strengthen business competitiveness
9. Side effects of pharmaceutical regulations (price-volume agreement system) and ways to improve them
10. Why the fixed book price system needs revision and how to achieve it
11. Why deregulation of large discount stores is necessary and how to improve it
12. Why easing import tariffs is necessary and how to improve it
13. The harmful effects of public-sector projects such as public delivery apps
14. The need to ease greenbelt regulations and directions for improvement
15. Shortage of technical personnel: why easing enrollment caps on contract-based academic departments is necessary
16. Problems with current low-income support policies that undermine work incentives and ways to improve them
17. Public pension reform measures
18. Ways to liberalize dispatched labor and replacement work during strikes
19. Ways to improve personal information regulations that limit entry into data-based industries
20. The need to introduce flexible work arrangements and how to implement them
21. The need to relax carbon neutrality targets and ways to improve them
22. The need to protect property rights and tasks for improvement
23. Institutional reform to strengthen the rule of law
24. Practical ways to reduce government spending

- Grand Prize: 0 winner(s) (certificate and a 1,000,000 won gift certificate)
- Excellence Prize: 0 winner(s) (certificate and a 500,000 won gift certificate)
- Merit Prize: 0 winner(s) (certificate and a 300,000 won gift certificate)
※ All award recipients will also receive books published by the Center for Free Enterprise (CFE) as supplementary prizes.
□ Other Information
1. User traffic increases beginning the day before the deadline. Please register at least one hour before the deadline.
2. In the case of duplicate submissions, the most recently submitted manuscript will be considered.
3. Submitted entries cannot be revised or deleted after registration.
4. Copyright for all submitted works belongs to the Center for Free Enterprise (CFE).
5. If a submission plagiarizes a previous award-winning work or another person’s work, the award may be revoked even after selection, and all legal responsibility rests with the entrant.
6. Applicants’ personal information will be collected and stored for awarding prizes, confirming winners, delivering prizes, and sending newsletters.
