2023 Summer Internship Completion Ceremony

A completion ceremony was held for the summer vacation intern researchers who worked for two months, from July to August 2023. A total of 11 intern researchers spent the summer with the Center for Free Enterprise (CFE).

The intern researchers carried out a great deal of work even in a short period of time, producing content in various formats such as card news, audio clips, and e-books, and even contributing Op-Eds directly to the media. We would like to express our gratitude to the intern researchers who worked so hard over the past two months.

The Center for Free Enterprise (CFE) runs internship programs every semester—in spring, summer, fall, and winter. The internship offers opportunities to participate directly in CFE’s various projects and content production. We appreciate your interest.

- Internship Reflections -

I was able to work on things related to my career path. And during the internship, I think I grew closer to the market economy. It was a rewarding period thanks to everyone I met at the Center for Free Enterprise (CFE).

I had always been interested in the market economy, liberalism, and especially Austrian economics, and it was a meaningful experience to be able to work directly on these topics at the Center for Free Enterprise (CFE). I think one major advantage was that each intern was given their own distinct responsibilities and autonomy in carrying them out. I leave with a strong sense of pride in having produced meaningful work with my own hands.

Through my two-month internship at the Center for Free Enterprise (CFE), I was able to understand the principles of the market economy and learn that citizens’ freedom must be guaranteed for society to develop and mature. It was also a meaningful time as I directly planned and produced various types of content such as card news, audio clips, and e-books.

As an intern at the Center for Free Enterprise (CFE), I encountered a wide range of materials on the “market economy.” By personally creating book reviews, card news, and Op-Eds, I was able to broaden my perspective and gain a deeper understanding of the market economy. I think my internship at CFE was a valuable experience that helped me strengthen my capabilities as an economic actor!

The internship gave me an opportunity to reflect on what the market economy really is. I believe what helped me grow significantly, even in a short time, was not simply learning economic knowledge, but thinking through the economic factors that run through many situations in everyday life. I also learned how to create not “content that is convenient for the producer,” but “content that is convenient for the consumer.” I am grateful for the time I had to learn both big and small things under the guidance of the senior researchers.

Although it was brief, I think it will remain in my memory as a short but powerful experience—a place where I could experience working life while also learning a great deal, much like at school. I believe that communicating with fellow interns from diverse backgrounds, as well as listening to supervisors already equipped with a wealth of experience, knowledge, and wisdom, will nourish my future.

The greatest advantage of being an intern researcher at the Center for Free Enterprise (CFE) is the opportunity to experience a wide variety of tasks. Unlike many other internships that involve only simple office assistance, here I was able to take on new and distinctive work such as writing card news and Op-Eds and producing e-books. What especially stood out to me was being able to receive direct feedback from the president and hear valuable insights that I could not have heard anywhere else. Thanks to the fellow interns I worked with and the researchers who helped me so much, this will remain a very positive memory.

My internship at the Center for Free Enterprise (CFE) was a happy time working alongside outstanding peers and warm-hearted senior staff. Because I was given a variety of responsibilities in which autonomy and initiative were respected, I was able to experience meaningful growth and achievement. Rather than simply doing assigned tasks, I am grateful that I was given the chance to exercise creativity through diverse activities such as presenting emoticons and producing Op-Eds.

I learned a lot and really enjoyed it. Many companies give interns only simple tasks like office assistance, but the internship at the Center for Free Enterprise (CFE) focused on initiative-driven activities such as conducting research, giving presentations, and creating content, so I gained a great deal from it. Above all, the weekly activities were so varied—writing, producing card news, making e-books, and giving presentations—that I think they will make my job application materials much richer. My fellow interns were all hardworking people, so we exchanged a lot of information and it also helped me build a professional network. Even though I hope to pursue a career unrelated to economics, I still think it was absolutely the right choice!
